Men, start a tradition! In many nations the 3rd Sunday in June is designated by secular governments as "Father's Day." Catholics normally associate a celebration of fatherhood with the feast of St. Joseph on March 19th. While this secular celebration is not on the Christian calendar, we wish to take this opportunity to encourage fathers to start some kind of annual tradition to do something spiritual with other male members of your families and those close to you.
One suggestion could be to set aside one hour while on your family vacation to have all the guys make a holy hour, preferably at a perpetual adoration chapel. A simple web search should bring up these chapels in the local diocese or nearby churches that have adoration available at specific times during the week. Plan ahead!
Whether you're a papa, a grandfather, an uncle, Godfather, big brother, whatever! Anyone can initiate this event! These are moments that will make an impression, especially on the young, and one hopes will encourage them to continue the practice of the faith with ever more devotion. These are moments they will remember fondly in their adult life. If any should fall away, it just might be the spark that re-ignites their faith as they remember this when they bury us! ;-)
